Dr. Frank Altenrath, D.C.
Doctor of Chiropractic
Dr. Frank Altenrath is a licensed Chiropractor serving the Tenafly community for over ten years.
Dr. Altenrath developed and interest in chiropractic through first hand experience while attending Northeastern University in Boston. As a baseball and hockey player, he sustained several injuries to his back and shoulder for which shots of cortisone and physical therapy were the main prescription. Finally, upon recommendation from a friend, he visited a chiropractor who proceeded to educate him on the importance of not only strengthening and stretching tight muscles, but also finding and correcting the inhibited muscles that caused the opposite muscles to be tight in the first place. He was also introduced to chiropractic adjustments which were specifically performed to correct nerve interference so that the injured tissues could heal quicker and more effectively. After a few weeks of treatment the shoulder and back pain was eliminated and the seeds for a future in chiropractic had been sown.
Dr. Altenrath attended the National College of Chiropractic from 1996 through 1999. While at National, he volunteered his services at events such as the Chicago marathon and the Ironman Traithlon in Hawaii, where he was part of the medical team that treated the Ironman athletes from around the world during the week leading up to the race. Dr. Altenrath also participated in a two week hospital rotation at Edgewater Hospital in Chicago where he rotated through various departments of the hospital and treated patients in the hospital's chiropractic department.
Dr. Altenrath currently holds a Doctor of Chiropractic degree, a B.S. in Human Biology, a B.S. in Marketing as well as certifications in Acupuncture, Active Release Soft Tissue Techniques, Applied Kinesiology, Kinesio Taping Levels I & II, and numerous seminars on functional whole food nutrition.
